Fig. 4

Cumulus cells genotoxicity assessment by the comet assay expressed by the Olive Tail Moment (OTM). Hydrogen peroxide (COCs exposed to 2.2% H2O2), Toxicity (16% EG + DMSO), and Vitrification (EG + DMSO + Vitrification). Cumulus cells (CCs) were removed from oocytes for evaluation. Control (n = 242 evaluated CCs), H2O2 (n = 263 evaluated CCs), Toxicity (n = 204 evaluated CCs), Vitrification (n = 219 evaluated CCs). The OTM represents the product of the percentage of total DNA in the tail and the distance between the centers of the head and tail regions. High OTM value indicates DNA damage. Higher OTM values were obtained in all groups compared to control. Data are presented as arbitrary units. Significant differences were considered when P < 0.05. *Indicates significant difference versus control. OTM = olive tail moment; H2O2 = hydrogen peroxide; EG = ethylene glycol; DMSO = dimethylsulphoxide
